A Perfect Writer's Retreat When you pass Land's End on your way to your destination, you know you will find peace and solitude. One of the questions I am most frequently asked is if the Parsonage Bed & Breakfast is real. The answer is yes, and no. There is a Parsonage B&B but it is not in Cape May. The real Parsonage is located on St. Agnes in the Isles of Scilly twenty-eight miles off the southwest tip of England. I have visited the Parsonage twice on writing retreats. I can't think of a better place to hide out and write. My other main activity on any visit is strolling around the island and enjoying the magnificent views. It's easy to appreciate the scenery and work at the same time. There are benches (at least one I found has a worktable) scattered around the island. Someday I'd like to return to the island when I am not working. It would also be a good place for reading and relaxing -- with little to do but enjoy the peace and the scenery. |
